It’s been over a year since CrossCode was announced for Xbox One, but after a slight delay, the retro-inspired RPG has finally launched via Xbox Game Pass alongside a PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch release. So, let’s find out more about the huge adventure it’s aiming to take you on!

Coming from Deck13 and Radical Fish Games, CrossCode is an amalgamation of the best parts of two rather popular genres in order to create an interesting experience; one that’s hoping to have found a good balance between them. Subsequently, the result is that you get the Zelda-esque puzzles in the eight dungeons featured and are also able to reap the rewards brought about by the inclusion of a real variety of equipment usually associated with the RPG genre. There’s a vast sci-fi infused world to explore too, which is made up of seven unique areas to explore.

Throughout the escapade there are upwards of 100 quests to tackle, including a variety of tasks and unique challenges that could see you investing up to 80 hours into CrossCode. During the fast-paced battles you’re set to face, the idea is to use the tools you find on your journey in order to reveal and exploit the enemies’ weaknesses. This enables you to then choose the appropriate equipment and skills for a more in-depth approach when fighting these enemies – of which there are over 120 types to encounter and more than 30 boss fights. Sounds impressive, right?

If you would like to learn more about CrossCode, be sure to check out our in-depth review. Should that tempt you into a purchase, simply head on over to the Xbox Store – or the respective digital stores for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch – and pay the required fee of £16.74. Obviously, Xbox Game Pass subscribers won’t need to pay anything for the privilege and can begin downloading it immediately.
