Satoru Iwata sadly passed away five years ago today and Reggie Fils-Aime, former president and chief operating officer at Nintendo, has paid his respects today on Twitter. His tweet reads: “Five years ago my boss, mentor and friend #SatoruIwata passed away. His words and creations touched so many of us. I continue to think about him every day.” and I have included Reggie’s tweet below.

Satoru Iwata was loved by many, by both Nintendo fans and his colleagues at Nintendo and further afield.

His presence on stage, his unmistakable and joyful charm in the Nintendo presentations (who can forget that Wii U unboxing!), and his impact on Nintendo is still sorely missed to this day.
